Nervy's stories, Part 1 (8-12 years)

I am sure you know this dog house where I live is called a Website.

On a website human beings place all kind of information they like to show to other humans. I do not understand everything that is published on the millions of websites which are out there, but that is for later when I am a grown up.

Human Eye

When I was born I had 5 brothers and sisters. My mother took very good care of us and her human, my grandhuman,  also did a good job.  Humans think they are smarter than we doggies, but they have no idea how we make them do exactly what we want them to do!! First, as a little doggy you have to learn to show them the white that is around your eyes. Doggies, unlike humans, do not always show the white around their eyes, their whole eye is coloured. Nature did not spend much effort on human beings if you think about the colour of the human eye. Only in the center, called the iris, the human eye has color but the iris is much smaller than the irish of doggies and cats, and in the center of the iris we see the pupil, the same as ours. 

Anyway, I was telling you how we could make your humans do exactly what we want them to do and that we do mainly with our  special eyes and expressions. When we puppies have a father and a mother who are healthy, there is a big chance we babies are healthy too.

A healthy puppy from about 4-5 weeks on has bright and shining eyes, like lovely dark coloured little twinkling stars.

Because we almost never show the white part of our eyes, humans tend to get emotional in a positive way and find it utterly cute  when we do so and  that is the trick!!  

Knowing when to use a certain expression in your eyes to make humans weak is a great advantage.

*A Baby puppy who still cannot see

Puppies and kittens are born blind* and deaf, about the two first weeks of our lives we cannot see or hear, like little human babies we cannot walk either. We just need to stay warm and eat, sleep and grow!! Because we can't use our little dark colored twinkling eyes yet we have to use something else to get attention and let our mother know what we want. You see we are clever, blind and not able to walk but yet we already know what we need to do to get it: WE CAN SCREAM!! YapYapYahooo!!

We use our voice when we are hungry, when we are cold and when we are lonely and/or in pain…..

In the first days after we are born our mother reacts on every little noise we make!! She gets restless and tries to make us as comfortable as she can. Us little puppies can take advantage of that already hehehehe…When we feel uncomfortable in any way we show that by making noises. But this trick does not work for too long, after a few days our mother knows exactly if there  really is something wrong or not. Bad luck, so we need something new!

Puppy with blueish eyes

After around 2 weeks our eyes and ears are open but still not fully working, our eyes also do not have the right color yet, they are kind of blueish. Around 5-6 weeks of age our little eyes are working much better and have their true color, so now it is about time we learn how to use them!
